The Place I Knew

It was just yesterday
I dwelt in this place.
Filled with faces I knew so well
I realized then, I was home.

Walls set in intimate echoes,
Unfolding friendship and oneness
Days passed through and yet I knew
This place will always be my friend.

Today I’ve trod this place once more
Walls still set and just the same shadows sailing through
I sought for the faces I’ve so much known
Oh! How well this place has grown.

The place is filled and yet it was empty.
I trailed the way that sheltered my memories.
Just like a stranger I walked ahead,
And found my soul drift through half-dead.

I’ve found a home and now it’s gone,
And a place that never was.
The air bewailed my shattered name
And as I walked alone I’ve learned this place will never be the same.
